Main characters
Hiroshi Kuzumi is a 15-year-old boy from Tokyo who moves to Jōga due to his father's work. His name's kanji can be read as Professor, earning him the nickname Hakase, which he dislikes. He learns from Nemuru that humans, called Fallen, emit a scent intoxicating to Jouga wolves, and that he is a Temptation, one in 100,000 whose scent is nearly irresistible. Nemuru Kushinada, also 15, is the daughter of the head of the Kushinada clan and class president. As the Hunter, she patrols at night in ceremonial garb and a wolf mask, wielding a scythe to execute Godmen who attack humans. She is initially cold to Hiroshi due to his danger but later warms to him. Isuzu is a 15-year-old tomboyish neighbor who is very affectionate toward Hiroshi. Her older brother Issei succumbed to predatory instincts and attacked Hiroshi, leading to his death by Nemuru. Isuzu herself later attacks Hiroshi but stops herself and is spared. Mana is Hiroshi's 12-year-old sister who uses a wheelchair after a car accident and strives for independence, becoming annoyed when her brother overhelps.
