Captain Englehorn is a character from the 2005 film King Kong, played by Thomas Kretschmann. In the film, Kretschmann portrays Captain Englehorn, the captain of the ship that transports the expedition to Skull Island. This role marks one of Kretschmann's notable appearances in a major American film, following his earlier work in European cinema and his acclaimed performance in The Pianist (2002).
Background
In Peter Jackson's 2005 remake of King Kong, Thomas Kretschmann played Captain Englehorn, the captain of the ship that carries the film's characters to Skull Island. This was Kretschmann's second collaboration with actor Adrien Brody, with whom he had previously co-starred in The Pianist (2002).
