Maddogs München was a professional ice hockey team based in Munich, Germany. It played in the Deutsche Eishockey Liga for only the 1994–95 season, competing in 27 games before ceasing operations.
The team was formed in the summer of 1994 when EC Hedos München, the reigning German champion, outsourced its senior squad. The Maddogs played their final DEL game on December 18, 1994, against EHC 80 Nuremberg. At the time of the collapse, the team had a record of 17 wins, 1 tie, and 9 losses. All of its results were later removed from the league standings.
The club’s origins trace back to EHC 70 München, founded in 1970. That club took over the ice hockey department of Münchner EV in 1976, played one season in the Eishockey-Bundesliga (1980–81), and was relegated in February 1982. A new club, EC Hedos München, was founded in 1982. It began competing jointly with SC München in 1983–84, then took over SC München’s youth teams while its senior team continued as USC München. EC Hedos was promoted to the Bundesliga in 1989 and won the German championship in 1994.
The Maddogs’ roster for the 1994–95 season included goaltenders Karl Friesen and Christian Frütel; defencemen Alexander Genze, Gregor Müller, Mike Schmidt, Zdenek Travnicek, Christian Lukes, Daniel Kunce, Sergei Shendelev, and Rainer Lutz; and forwards Gordon Sherven, Anthony Vogel, Michal Hreus, Dale Derkatch, Christian Brittig, Harry Waibel, Ewald Steiger, Dieter Hegen, Ralf Reisinger, Henrik Hölscher, Tobias Abstreiter, Christoph Sandner, Harald Birk, and Chris Straube. The head coach was Bob Murdoch.
