Lore & Background
The King of All Cosmos destroys the stars and constellations himself. The Prince is then tasked with rebuilding them by rolling up objects into a katamari ball.
Reader's Guide
The King appears in the middle of the screen when players reach certain size milestones. He scolds and punishes players if they fail to reach the required size in the time allotted. At the end of a stage, he criticizes players who barely exceed the required size and praises those who exceed it by a significant margin. On the first completion of a level, he automatically transforms the katamari into a star; on subsequent completions, he asks if the player would like to turn it into a star or into stardust.
Did You Know?
- The King refers to himself using the royal we.
- Before each level, the King often goes on a nonsensical rant to The Prince.
- If players reach the required size fast enough, a shooting star is unlocked for the star.
