Paranormal Activity 2: Tokyo Night is a 2010 Japanese supernatural horror film written and directed by Toshikazu Nagae. It was commissioned by the Japanese distributor Presidio Corporation and is based on the 2007 American film Paranormal Activity by Oren Peli. The film documents events that follow from the original film.

Plot

In March 2007, while staying in San Diego, California, Japanese student Haruka Yamano (Noriko Aoyama) suffers a car accident that breaks both her legs. She returns to her home in Tokyo, where her 19-year-old brother Koichi (Aoi Nakamura) looks after her after their father Shigeyuki departs for a business trip abroad. One morning, Haruka notices her wheelchair has shifted even though its wheels were locked. Koichi believes a paranormal force is responsible and puts a pile of salt in Haruka’s room, which is found scattered the next day.

Though Haruka is skeptical, Koichi keeps investigating, and she agrees to let him keep filming after a glass cup shatters on its own during dinner. From the camera footage, they see that many objects around the house have moved without explanation. When Koichi’s friend Jun Nagoshi (Kōsuke Kujirai) visits with his girlfriend and her friend Misuzu Kure, Misuzu screams and foams at the mouth while looking around Haruka’s room.

Koichi reaches out to a Shinto priest, who performs a purification ceremony. Afterward, the priest tells the siblings the presence has settled down. For two days, nothing happens, and then their father returns home.

On the twelfth night, Haruka’s wheelchair rolls toward the camera and knocks it offline, making the siblings realize the presence is still active. Koichi tries to contact the Shinto priest but learns the priest died of a heart attack shortly after leaving them. The activity grows more violent, with Haruka being pulled out of bed by her hair. She tries to call Shigeyuki but gets no answer.

Haruka remembers Katie from the first movie, a woman involved in the same car accident that ended her own trip. After looking Katie up online, she concludes the demon that possessed Katie is now after them. She tells Koichi she experienced similar strange events while recovering in a U.S. hospital. That night, she shows him a strange bite mark on her arm before passing out.

The next morning, Koichi places a crucifix in her hand. After he leaves, Haruka drops the crucifix, which bursts into flames, and windows shatter. When Koichi finds the burned crucifix and broken glass, he is shocked and devastated.
