The series is set five years after the 300-year-long war between the Alliance of Six Nations and the Gaz Empire ended with the death of Emperor Arthur Gaz at the hands of the Eight Heroes. The Empire's lands were divided, and Gaz's magical remains were split among the heroes. In the present, Toru Acura, an unemployed Saboteur, meets Chaika Trabant, a silver-haired wizard carrying a coffin. After saving her from a man-eating unicorn, Toru and his sister Akari are hired to help Chaika collect her father's remains to give him a proper burial. They face opposition from the Eight Heroes, the Kleemann Agency's Gillette Corps, and other groups led by girls claiming to be Chaika Gaz.
