The story centers on Lady Elianna Bernstein, a high noble from a family known as the 'brains of Sauslind.' Her family are bibliophiles and have long been considered national treasures for their ability to read and recall vast amounts of information, while insisting on political neutrality. When young Crown Prince Christopher revealed his wish to marry Elianna, the engagement was arranged by the king and Christopher himself, and Elianna was not confined to the Bernstein estate. She became Christopher's fiancée, initially believing the arrangement was solely to deflect his other suitors, but Christopher's feelings and the engagement were genuine from the start, and she spent her time reading in the royal archive.
