Tony Boselli

Don Bosco Anthony Boselli Jr. was born on April 17, 1972. He is a former NFL offensive tackle and current executive, serving as the executive vice president of football operations for the Jacksonville Jaguars. Boselli played college football at USC, where he earned the Morris Trophy in 1994. The Jaguars made him the second overall pick in the 1995 draft, making him the first player ever selected by the franchise.

During his seven seasons in Jacksonville, Boselli became one of the team’s most productive and beloved players. He earned five Pro Bowl selections and three first-team All-Pro honors, and helped the Jaguars reach two AFC Championship Games. After his time in Jacksonville, the Houston Texans chose him with the first pick of the 2002 expansion draft, but he retired without playing for them due to injuries. He returned to the Jaguars as an executive in 2025. Boselli was the first inductee into the Jaguars Hall of Fame in 2006, entered the College Football Hall of Fame in 2014, and was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2022—the first Jaguars player to receive that honor.

Boselli played at USC from 1991 to 1994 on an athletic scholarship. He was a first-team All-Pac-10 and first-team All-American selection in 1992, 1993, and 1994. He also won the Morris Trophy in 1994 and was a member of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity.

Selected second overall in the 1995 draft, Boselli was the Jaguars’ first-ever pick. His success and popularity led Jacksonville-area McDonald’s restaurants to offer a “Boselli Burger” for a time. The Texans took him first in the 2002 expansion draft, but he spent the season on injured reserve and retired in July 2003. He believes a botched left shoulder surgery ended his career. On October 8, 2006, he became the first player inducted into the Pride of the Jaguars and signed a one-day contract to retire as a Jaguar.

After football, Boselli pursued business ventures. With former teammates Mark Brunell and Bryan Schwartz, he invested in seven Mattress Firm stores in Jacksonville, selling his stake by 2002. He and Brunell also own all Whataburger franchises in the Jacksonville area. Boselli works as the offensive line coach at the Episcopal School of Jacksonville, alongside Brunell. He is a founding partner in IF Marketing, a firm originally called Intra Focus marketing & advertising, with friends and former teammates Jeff Novak and Will Furrer; the company has offices in Georgetown, Texas, and Jacksonville, Florida.

On February 3, 2025, Boselli was hired as the Jaguars’ executive vice president of football operations.

Since 2005, Boselli has lived in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida, with his wife Angi and their five children: Andrew, Adam, Ashli, Alexis, and Ansli. He has lost significant weight and now competes in triathlons. His son Andrew played football at Florida State on an athletic scholarship, while Adam played tight end at Florida Atlantic.

In 2007, Boselli became a color commentator on regional NFL telecasts for Fox, teaming with Ron Pitts. He was praised as one of the best in his rookie season. From 2009 to 2012, he worked as a game analyst and sideline reporter for Westwood One’s NFL coverage. In 2013, he joined the Jacksonville Jaguars radio broadcast team. He was also a co-host on 1010 XL’s Sports Final Radio and still appears as a part-time call-in guest. Boselli was interviewed for an episode of NFL’s Greatest Games on ESPN2.

Boselli and his wife founded the Boselli Foundation in 1995 to work with at-risk youth in Jacksonville, helping them build self-esteem and succeed at home, school, and play. Since 2007, he has devoted significant time to foundation projects. He overcame local political opposition to renovate and reopen a closed community center.
