Charlie's Mom
Bonnie Kelly, Charlie's timid and neurotic mother, played by Lynne Marie Stewart.
Charlie's mom is Bonnie Kelly, a recurring character played by Lynne Marie Stewart. She is a sweet, timid woman who is drawn to cruel men, and she is given to dramatic, highly strung episodes; the show suggests she may have obsessive compulsive disorder. Thirty years before the series she had a one-night stand with Frank Reynolds.
Background
Bonnie later takes up with Frank again and enjoys his rough treatment as his "bang maid", but she soon turns her affections to Luther, Mac's intimidating father, after meeting him at a dinner party Mac and Charlie throw. The show hints, and later confirms, that she once worked as a prostitute, which badly upsets Charlie. In "Mac's Mom Burns Her House Down" Mac's mother loses her home in a fire and moves in with Bonnie; the two do not get on at first but end up bonding over their shared racism and xenophobia. Lynne Marie Stewart died in February 2025, and the episode "The Golden Bachelor Live" was dedicated to her.
