Reception
By January 2019, the manga had over 1 million copies in circulation; by January 2022, over 3.2 million; and by January 2023, over 4 million. Anime News Network's four editors reviewed the first episode. Rebecca Silverman was put off by fan service and disappointed that only about thirty seconds of actual race footage appeared. Richard Eisenbeis felt betrayed by the lack of drifting races and eurobeat music but called it a solid introduction with decent stories involving Kanata and Ren. James Beckett suggested automotive-illiterate viewers might enjoy the potential romance but questioned its racing anime appeal based on brief snippets. Nicholas Dupree found the main cast mild-mannered and matter-of-fact but thought viewers might become invested over time; he commended the CG vehicles and distinctive character designs but criticized environments as barely-edited reference photos, saying the series' success depends on capturing racing speed and intensity in later episodes.
