Last updated

Founded in 1994, Delhi FC is a professional club based in the capital. It plays in both the Indian Football League and the Delhi Premier League. After earning promotion from the 2022–23 I-League 2, the team entered the second-tier I-League for the 2023–24 season. Its fan group is known as The Warrior Ultras.

History

Delhi FC started out in 1994, spending its early years in lower local leagues before moving up to the FD Senior Division in 2009. The club, which is tied to Football Delhi, now plays regularly in the Delhi Premier League, the top tier of the city's football system. In August 2020, Ranjit Bajaj, who owned Minerva Academy, took charge of Delhi FC after fully selling his stake in Punjab FC to RoundGlass. The team entered the 130th Durand Cup and made it to the quarter-finals, thanks to a win over Indian Super League side Kerala Blasters in their last group game.

May 2023 saw Delhi FC win its first I-League 2 title, earning a spot in the I-League and becoming the first Delhi club to earn promotion on the field. Yan Law was brought in as head coach for that debut I-League season. In September 2023, the club played in the first Climate Cup in Ladakh and won it, beating the Tibetan National Sports Association 6-0 in the final. After being relegated back to I-League 2 in April 2025, Delhi FC bounced straight up to the Indian Football League (IFL) the following season by finishing top of the I-League 2 table in 2025-26.
