Playing career

Olausson began his youth career with Tranås AIF before moving to HV71 for junior development. In his third season in the J20 Nationell, he recorded 14 goals and 27 points in 16 games at that level during the 2020–21 season before joining HV71's senior team. He made his professional debut in the SHL with HV71, collecting 3 goals and 4 points in 16 regular season games, then finished the season on loan to Södertälje SK of the HockeyAllsvenskan, where he contributed 6 points in 11 outings. After being drafted by the Avalanche, Olausson was initially expected to return to HV71 in the Allsvenskan, but on 7 August 2021 he signed a three-year entry-level contract with Colorado to develop in North America. His junior rights had been selected 118th overall in the CHL Import Draft by the Barrie Colts, and he agreed to terms with that club on 20 August 2021. In the 2021–22 season, Olausson scored 12 goals and 25 points in 22 games with the Colts. While leading the team in goals, he was traded to the Oshawa Generals on 6 January 2022 in exchange for Kevin Niedenz and multiple draft selections. With the Generals, he added 14 goals and 24 points in 33 regular season games. After a first-round playoff exit, the Avalanche reassigned him to the Colorado Eagles of the AHL on 2 May 2022, and he made four postseason appearances with 2 assists. For the 2022–23 season, Olausson was assigned to the Eagles. He scored his first professional goal in North America, a game-winner, in a 6–2 win over the Calgary Wranglers on 21 October 2022. After posting 8 points in 16 games for the Eagles, he received his first NHL recall on 23 November 2022 due to injuries on the Avalanche. He made his NHL debut that night at Ball Arena in a 4–3 loss to the Vancouver Canucks, then was reassigned to the AHL.
