Background
In his story arc he investigates the crimes of the Miami Mutilator while fighting thugs and Colombian criminals, and he also serves as an antagonist to the Fans. He is portrayed as exhausted and cynical, secretly wants fame and to be seen as an action star, and his ambition leads to misconduct such as murdering Tony in cold blood. He is possibly based on James 'Sonny' Crockett of the 1980s television show Miami Vice: both are detectives in a 1980s Miami setting with a similar look who do not go 'by the book'.
