Resident Evil: Revelations 2

Episodic survival horror with Claire Redfield and Barry Burton.

Resident Evil: Revelations 2

Resident Evil: Revelations 2, an episodic survival horror title from Capcom, came out in 2015 as part of the Resident Evil franchise. It follows up on both Resident Evil: Revelations and Resident Evil 5. The game brings back Claire Redfield as the lead character, and for the first time in the main series, players can control Barry Burton in the story. It also marks the first Resident Evil installment where Alyson Court did not provide the voice for Claire Redfield. The first episode launched in February 2015.

The story takes place in 2011, between the events of Resident Evil 5 and Resident Evil 6. It starts when Claire and her coworkers, including Barry Burton’s daughter Moira, are celebrating at a party in the headquarters of the NGO TerraSave. Unknown attackers ambush them and drag them to a deserted island in the Baltic Sea.

The game was released on PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Windows, Xbox 360, Xbox One, and PlayStation Vita in 2015, and later on Nintendo Switch in 2017 alongside a port of the first Revelations. Critics gave it mixed to positive reviews, praising the setting, story, characters, and cooperative gameplay, but criticizing the graphics and some technical problems. By December 31, 2025, the title had sold 4 million units.

**Gameplay**

Resident Evil: Revelations 2 takes place between Resident Evil 5 and Resident Evil 6. Claire Redfield is the main protagonist, with Barry’s daughter Moira in a supporting role. A trailer released in December 2014 revealed Barry as another playable character, joined by Natalia Korda, a young girl with supernatural abilities. The official cinematic trailer also came out that month. The game is a survival horror title that supports cooperative play. In single-player mode, players switch between characters to solve puzzles and perform specific actions. Stealth elements are present, as only two of the four playable characters use guns. The other two are more vulnerable and rely on melee weapons like crowbars and bricks; they can also find hidden items using a flashlight or special senses.

Raid Mode returns from the first Revelations game, adding new features, more missions, and new playable characters. It includes about 200 missions and 15 characters from across the series, plus new scenarios and enemies from Resident Evil 5, Resident Evil 6, and Resident Evil: Revelations.
