The Focus is a small earpiece that Aloy wears in Horizon Zero Dawn. An augmented reality device of the ancient world, it scans machines to identify their location, susceptibilities, level and the loot they will drop, and gives her special perceptive abilities. Aloy obtains it as a child, and it reveals the ruined past to her.
Lore & Background
In Horizon Forbidden West: Burning Shores the Quen marine Seyka also uses a Focus, which the designers intended as a reflection of Aloy's own past and development.
