Franco Baresi

Italian defender who spent 20 years at AC Milan.

Franchino Baresi, born on 8 May 1960 in Travagliato, was an Italian footballer who played as a defender and spent his whole professional career with AC Milan.[1][2][3] He served as Milan's captain for 15 seasons and placed 19th in World Soccer magazine's ranking of the 20th century's top 100 players.[2][4]

Life and work

During the 1993–94 season, Milan conceded a Serie A record 15 goals in 34 matches and achieved a 929-minute unbeaten streak.[5][6] Inter Milan's youth team turned him down and instead signed his brother Giuseppe.[7][8] At 22 years old, Baresi became Milan's captain and kept that role for a record 15 seasons.[9][10] Baresi helped Milan capture three straight Serie A titles under Fabio Capello, including an unbeaten 1991–92 campaign and a record 58-match unbeaten streak.[5][11]
