Bible Reinterpreted
Human scripture is a veil; the true history is written in blood, magic, and divine conflict.

In the Highschool DxD universe, the 'Bible Reinterpreted' refers to the gap between human religious texts and the actual supernatural history. While humanity worships a singular deity based on scriptures, the true reality involves a complex pantheon of Gods, Angels, Fallen Angels, and Devils who shaped creation. The Bible as known by humans is often a veiled record of these events, stripped of context to maintain the Great Secret. This reinterpretation explains why miracles occur without public knowledge and why biblical figures are actually powerful entities from different factions. The discrepancy between human faith and celestial truth drives conflict, especially when ancient prophecies resurface to threaten the balance between the Heavenly Host and the Underworld.

Lore & Background
The core mythology of Highschool DxD posits that the world was created by God, but the narrative in human bibles is a sanitized version. In truth, creation involved interplay between the Heavenly Host, led by God, and the Devils, originally Angels cast out for loving humanity too much or rebelling. The 'Fall' was a massive cosmic war reshaping the planet's metaphysical landscape. Texts obscure true identities of biblical figures—many are reincarnated Devils, powerful Fallen Angels, or ancient Dragons who manipulated history. The 'Reinterpretation' suggests miracles were strategic moves in an ongoing geopolitical struggle between races. Human faith is both a power source for the supernatural and a shield protecting them from direct exposure.
Reader's Guide
The history of the world began with the Creation, where God established order and the Heavenly Host. The emergence of Lucifer and the rebellion of a third of the Angels led to the Great War, resulting in the creation of Hell and the formation of the Devils as a distinct race. Magic operates on a system of 'Power of Destruction,' 'Creation,' and spiritual energy drawn from faith or territory. Reincarnation is a technique used by Devils to create Sacred Gear wielders or powerful servants, binding souls to the Underworld's hierarchy. The balance between races is maintained by treaties after the Great War, forbidding open conflict on Earth. Terms like 'Maou' and 'Archangel' denote high-ranking officials. The 'Bible Reinterpreted' reminds us that human history is a filtered version of these divine struggles.
