The Fish
From the crushing dark below rises an ancient hunger that predates man.
Within the shadowed archives of the B.P.R.D., 'The Fish' refers to a designation for ancient aquatic entities dwelling in the deepest trenches of the world's oceans. These beings are not merely biological creatures but primordial intelligences tied to the mythological undercurrents that Mike Mignola wove into the Hellboy universe. Often associated with the cultists of Dagon and the broader Lovecraftian horrors that threaten humanity, The Fish represents a specific class of deep-sea demon capable of influencing surface dwellers through psychic resonance.

Lore & Background
Agents within the Bureau have encountered containment units labeled with this designation in secure facilities beneath the surface of the earth. These entities are notoriously difficult to track due to their ability to manipulate water and pressure, creating illusions that drive witnesses mad.
Reader's Guide
The metaphysical rules governing aquatic entities in this universe differ from standard demons. They do not draw power from hellfire or blood magic, but from the pressure and isolation of the deep ocean. Historical precedents show that civilizations near coastlines often fell into cultish worship before vanishing without a trace. These beings operate under a hive-mind consciousness linked to the Ogdru Jahad's broader influence on the planet's biology.
They are not inherently evil in a human sense but view humanity as an invasive species disrupting their ancient slumber. Containment requires specialized lead-lined tanks and psychic dampeners to prevent telepathic leakage. B.P.R.D. protocols dictate that any surface breach by such entities must be handled with extreme caution, often involving the deployment of specialized teams like Abe Sapien's unit. The lore emphasizes that killing them is rarely an option; they are too numerous and ancient for total eradication.
