Lore & Background

Dr. Samuel Loomis is the psychiatrist who has been treating Michael Myers since the age of six, when Michael murdered his teenage sister Judith on Halloween 1963. On October 30, 1978, Loomis and nurse Marion Chambers drive to the sanitarium to escort Michael to a court hearing, but upon arrival they realize patients have broken out. Loomis concludes that Michael has escaped. He arrives in Haddonfield, discovers Michael has stolen Judith's tombstone, and meets with Sheriff Leigh Brackett.

They visit Michael's home, convinced Michael has returned. Later, Loomis discovers the stolen car and searches the streets. At the climax, he hears children screaming, investigates, and finds Laurie Strode fighting Michael. He recognizes Michael, shoots him repeatedly, causing him to fall off a bedroom balcony.

When Loomis checks the body, Michael has vanished. Loomis stares into the night as Laurie sobs, telling him "it was the boogeyman."
