Lore & Background

Sacred 3 features a variety of classes, but those from Sacred 2: Fallen Angel did not return; they were replaced by four new classes: the Safiri Warrior, Ancarian Lancer, Khukuri, and Seraphim (the Seraphim is a returning class, not a replacement). Unlike previous games, Castle Braverock does not appear in Sacred 3. The game supports four-player co-op both online and offline, with each ally having distinct active and passive skills. Players can equip a small number of abilities to keep the team from getting overpowered and may combine team powers for additional ways to defeat foes.

Reader's Guide

The plot of Sacred 3 centers on the Seraphim, guardians of the 'Heart of Ancaria,' whose sacred bond with the people has been forgotten. Lord Zane, ruler of the Ashen Empire, allies with demons to open the gates to the underworld. A resistance of Heroes is forged to defeat Zane Ashen and prevent him from obtaining the Heart of Ancaria. Development was handled by Keen Games for Deep Silver. After a Gamescom announcement, Deep Silver called for fan feedback on desired features. In an interview, Martin Wein stated that quality assurance was a target for Sacred 3, aiming to deliver a bug-free game, and that the team wanted to keep the charm of the series while including popular characters from prequels. The game received mixed reviews according to Metacritic, with The Escapist's James Stephanie Sterling noting that fans of the series could be disappointed and fans of the hack and slash genre would prefer other titles. A side-scrolling action brawler prequel, Sacred Citadel, was released in 2013.
