Lore & Background

Matt Allsopp designed him, modelled on the Toho version. He is the third American reimagining of Godzilla, after Hanna-Barbera's 1978 cartoon and TriStar's 1998 film, and the tenth screen incarnation overall.

Ishiro Serizawa (Ken Watanabe) calls him "Gojira"; Watanabe argued with the producer for his character to use the Japanese name because it is where the icon comes from.
