Mexico is the setting of Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter. In 2013 the US and Mexican presidents and the Canadian prime minister meet in Mexico City to sign the North American Joint Security Agreement, and Captain Scott Mitchell's Ghost team fights through the capital - clearing the route in, assaulting Chapultepec Castle and defeating anti-air emplacements at Mexico City International Airport.

Advanced Warfighter 2 takes place in 2014, immediately afterwards, just south of the Mexico-United States border. Destabilization in Mexico has spread across Latin America, and Mitchell's Ghosts return covertly to stop rebels led by Juan de la Barrera, believed to be planning an attack on the United States from Ciudad Juarez, possibly with a dirty bomb.
