Jenson McKenzie, a German rock band from Mannheim, formed in 2012. The four members are Jens Volpp, Yuriy Davygora, Fabian Franz, and Marco Dick. Their sound draws from Queen and Guns N' Roses, blending various styles that were popular in the 1980s.

History
In March 2012, Jens Volpp, then studying mechanical engineering at Mannheim University of Applied Sciences, put up a notice on a campus board looking for musicians to start a hard rock or indie rock band. He also posted the same ad at the University of Heidelberg, where Yuriy Davygora was working on a graduate degree in particle physics. Davygora got in touch with Volpp, and the two met for an open jam at Mannheim's O-Ton club. At a second meeting on 18 April, they agreed to form a band and named it Jenson McKenzie. Initially, they performed as an acoustic duo, with Volpp on lead guitar and Davygora handling vocals and rhythm guitar. Their debut show took place on 4 July 2012 during the open stage night at Heidelberg's Zeltfestival 2012, where they played songs each had written before meeting, including Spring Blues and The Science Goes On. Following that, the pair began writing new material together and started searching for a bassist and drummer. They played several more gigs in 2012, sometimes with guest musicians. A notable one was the newcomer festival in Weinheim on 8 December, which marked the first Jenson McKenzie concert using electric instruments. By 15 December 2012, the band had a permanent four-member lineup, adding drummer Fabian Franz and bassist-vocalist Marco Dick. Recording for their debut album, still untitled at the time, was set to begin in 2013.
Musical style
Jenson McKenzie refer to themselves as a rock'n'roll/classic rock/hard rock band. They drew artistic influence from rock acts like Queen, Guns N' Roses, The Who, Scorpions, DIO, etc. They compose songs inspired by different musical genres including rock'n'roll, pop rock, punk rock, hard rock, heavy metal, folk and others. Guitarist Jens Volpp is mainly influenced by Slash which is reflected in his style of playing.
