History

The members of Dominoe had their first musical experiences in various student bands near Munich and had known each other for over ten years. After setting up their own recording studio, they experimented with band names such as Flick of the Wrist and Radius in the mid-1980s before forming Dominoe in 1987 with Jörg Sieber as lead singer. Their debut single became a top hit; "Here I Am" entered the German charts in early 1988 after being used in a TV commercial for the Renault 5, peaking at No. 4 in February and remaining on the charts for three months. During this period, the Bavarian rock band toured several European countries and appeared on French television. The follow-up single "Let’s Talk About Life" peaked at No. 53 in June 1988, and the third single "Family Man" from the debut album Keep in Touch was released in August 1988. In 1989, Robert Papst left the band as a musician to become Dominoe's producer, replaced by guitarist Markus Schiegl. Keyboardist and background singer Angie Buchzyk pursued a solo career as Angie Layne, also produced by Papst. The second album The Key (1990), co-produced by Papst and Harold Faltermeyer, sold moderately, and after a tour in fall 1990 the musicians went separate ways. In 1994, Jörg Sieber released a solo album under the pseudonym Jay Seever, with the single "That’s What You're Looking For" serving as the title song for a Hanuta commercial, again produced by Robert Papst. In 2002, Papst and Sieber recorded a third Dominoe album, No Silence… No Lambs, with new musicians including singer Jane Bogaert. The fourth album, The Story Is Far from Told, was released in 2008 and accompanied by television appearances on ZDF-Fernsehgarten and Sat.1 Hit-Giganten. The fifth album, Naked but Dressed (2012), featured guest musicians for the first time, including Jimi Jamison of the group Survivor.
