History

Masterboy was formed in 1990 by producers Enrico Zabler and Tommy Schleh, who had met in a London club the previous year. The group initially featured vocalist Mendy Lee and rapper David Atterberry, releasing early singles "Dance to the Beat" and "Shake It Up And Dance". Their debut album "The Masterboy Family" appeared in 1991, supported by singles "Cause We Do It Again", "Masterboy Theme", and "I Need Your Love". Lee and Atterberry left in 1992 after the releases of "Keep On Dancing" and "Noche Del Amor". In 1993, the group returned with new vocalist Trixi Delgado (Beatrice Obrecht), and Tommy Schleh took over as rapper while remaining a producer. They issued "Fall In Trance" and "Everybody Needs Somebody" to promote the album "Feeling Alright", which saw little success. The single "I Got to Give It Up" in September 1993 marked Masterboy's breakthrough in Europe, followed by major continental success with "Feel the Heat of the Night" (June 1994) and "Is This the Love" (October 1994). Their third album "Different Dreams" (1994) brought them to the forefront of Eurodance. In June 1995, "Generation of Love" achieved further European chart success, as did "Anybody (Movin' On)". These singles preceded the fourth album "Generation of Love - The Album" (October 1995). The group released "Land Of Dreaming" in January 1996. During this period, Masterboy produced remixes and worked for other Eurodance artists including Ice MC and Twenty 4 Seven. They also joined fellow German Eurodance groups E-Rotic, Fun Factory, Mr. President, Scooter, U96 and English boyband Worlds Apart to form the supergroup "Love Message", releasing the charity single "Love Message" to raise HIV/AIDS awareness. Later in 1996, Trixi Delgado left the group to pursue other interests and care for her family.
