Ice Age: The Great Egg-Scapade

A prehistoric Easter egg hunt with a pirate hare.

Last updated

In 2016, Blue Sky Studios released an animated comedy-mystery TV special called Ice Age: The Great Egg-Scapade, directed by Ricardo Curtis. It aired on Fox around Easter. Seth Green voiced Squint, replacing Aziz Ansari, while the rest of the main cast returned. The story fits between Continental Drift and Collision Course.

Plot

Five years after the fourth film and four months before the fifth, Manny and his herd prepare for Easter. Ellie handles the decorations by herself while Manny, Diego, Crash, and Eddie watch a hawk fight a bear. Crash and Eddie try to prank Peaches, which starts the first April Fools' Day, and Peaches wants to celebrate Easter with her friends. Sid volunteers to watch over eggs for their owners, earning disapproval from Manny and Diego.

Elsewhere, the pirate hare Squint has been living in a hole for three months with his lazy rabbit brother Clint and their mother. After recovering, Squint spots Manny's group and seeks revenge for what he did to Captain Gutt and his ship. He confronts them and demands a new ship, but fails. When Sid falls asleep, Squint frames him for stealing the eggs.

To clear Sid, Manny and Diego search for the eggs, and Clint gives them a map to the eggs, which Squint painted to hide them. They recover the eggs and see through the disguise, but one egg is missing. Squint warns that if they do not build him a ship by the next day, he will scramble the egg.

Clint leads his brother into an ambush set by Manny, Sid, and Diego. They find the egg when it is revealed to be painted as an acorn and taken by Scrat. Squint fights Sid for the egg, but the ice cracks, allowing Sid to defeat Squint with help from Crash and Eddie's latest prank, which is also a trap Sid set. The mammoth family decides to spend Easter together, and Sid suggests that Clint become the Easter Bunny by painting and hiding eggs each year.
