History
Mirassol Futebol Clube began its life on 9 November 1925 under the name Mirassol Esporte Clube. For its first 26 years, the side competed only in amateur tournaments. In 1951, the club entered the Campeonato Paulista Segunda Divisão, but it returned to amateur play the very next year. It did not take part in another competition until 1960, when it joined the Campeonato Paulista Terceira Divisão, the fourth tier, and won immediate promotion.
After surviving relegation in the 1961 Segunda Divisão, now the third level, Mirassol developed a local rivalry with the newly formed Grêmio Recreação Esporte Cultura Mirassol during the 1962 and 1963 seasons, when both sides played in the same division. In 1964, the two clubs merged to become Mirassol Atlético Clube, adopting white and blue kits. The merger fell apart in 1981, and the club reclaimed its yellow and green colors under the name Mirassol Futebol Clube.
It returned to the third division of the Paulistão and climbed to the second tier in 1985. A league restructuring in 1994 placed the club in the Campeonato Paulista Série A3. Mirassol won that title in 1997, topping a final four group that included União Barbarense, Olímpia, and São Caetano. Relegated in 2003, the club bounced back to the second tier the following year.
In 2007, a second-place finish in its Série A2 semifinal group earned the club its first-ever promotion to the top-flight Campeonato Paulista. An eighth-place finish in the 2008 Paulistão qualified Mirassol for the 2008 Série C, its first national competition. Relegation in the 2013 Paulistão sent the club back to the Série A2 for three seasons, until promotion was secured in 2016. After staving off relegation in subsequent years, Mirassol finished third in the 2020 Campeonato Paulista, knocking out São Paulo in the quarterfinals.
That same season, the club won the Série D, its first national title, though the finals were played in February 2021. Following a narrow escape from relegation in the 2021 Série C, Mirassol won the 2022 Série C and moved up to the Série B. In 2024, the club secured promotion to the Série A for the first time in its history by defeating Chapecoense 1–0 on the final matchday of the Série B.
