FN 545
A striker-fired 45 ACP pistol with interchangeable backstraps.
Last updated
The FN 545 is a polymer frame striker-fired semi-automatic pistol manufactured by FN America, a division of FN Herstal. It is chambered in 45 ACP.
Design
The FN 545 is based on the FN 509 and uses a striker-fired action. Its stainless steel slide has a ferritic nitrocarburizing finish, and the polymer frame is available in black or flat dark earth. Barrel length is 4.1 inches for the Standard Full Size (MRD) model and 4.71 inches for the Tactical model. The grip backstrap accepts interchangeable inserts, one arched and one flat.
Serrations on both front and rear of the slide aid manipulation. The pistol has single-action operation with ambidextrous magazine releases and slide locks, plus a Picatinny rail forward of the trigger guard. Instead of a manual safety, it includes an integrated trigger safety as part of four passive safety systems: a striker block, drop safety, trigger disconnect, and trigger safety lever. It ships with an 18-round and a 15-round magazine; 10-round magazines are available for restricted states.
