Hino do Flamengo
Flamengo has two anthems: the 1920 official hymn and Lamartine Babo's popular song.
Flamengo has two anthems. The official one, the Hymno Rubro-Negro (Scarlet-Black Anthem), was written in 1920 by Paulo Magalhães, a former Flamengo goalkeeper, recorded in 1932 by Castro Barbosa and registered in 1937 at the Instituto Nacional de Música. The popular anthem, by Lamartine Babo, was first recorded by Gilberto Alves in 1945 and is the better known of the two.

Lore & Background
The official hymn's refrain runs "Flamengo! Flamengo! Tua glória é lutar" (your glory is to fight) and calls the club "Campeão de terra e mar", champion of land and sea, a nod to its rowing origins. The popular anthem's refrain is "Uma vez Flamengo, sempre Flamengo" (once Flamengo, always Flamengo). The phrase "uma vez Flamengo, Flamengo até morrer" came from a school contest organised for publicity, and was later adopted as part of the anthem.
Reader's Guide
When fans talk about the Flamengo anthem they usually mean Lamartine Babo's popular song; the older Hymno Rubro-Negro by Paulo Magalhães is the official one.
