Quick Facts

Type: Sealed Testament of the Founder
Contents: Secret to overcoming Kaioh's ultimate technique

Lore & Background

The lineage of Hokuto Shinken traces back to its founder, Shuken. The narrative introduces a specific 'sealed testament' created by this founder, which contains the secret necessary to overcome the ultimate technique of Kaioh, one of the three overlords in the Kingdom of Shura. This testament is distinct from the general training Kenshiro received from his master Ryuken or his rivalry with Raoh. Hokuto Ryūken, a martial art branched off from the same clan as Hokuto Shinken, was corrupted into darkness under Kaioh's rule. The testament is specifically uncovered by Kenshiro during his journey to rescue Lin from the remnants of Jakoh's forces in the Kingdom of Shura.

The concept of destroying bodies by attacking pressure points was inspired by an anecdote found by editor Nobuhiko Horie in a used Chinese book store on Suzuran Street in Jinbōchō, Tokyo.
Buronson devised that Kenshiro's seven scars in the shape of the Big Dipper were given to him by the man who stole the woman he loved.
Raoh refused to allow his fists to be 'sealed' according to the law of Hokuto Shinken and killed their master Ryuken in an act of defiance.
