Lore & Background
The expanded format was first announced in March 2019, originally selecting China to host the inaugural edition in 2021, later postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In February 2023, FIFA confirmed the allocation of qualification slots among confederations, and four months later announced the United States as the new host nation. The revised structure was modeled more closely on the FIFA World Cup as a quadrennial world championship, replacing the annual seven-team format used between 2000 and 2023. FIFA also introduced the FIFA Intercontinental Cup, an annual tournament based on the previous Club World Cup format.
In Their Own Story
The neon lights of the virtual stadium hummed with anticipation as Marcus adjusted his avatar's custom kit for the third time tonight. The chat window lit up: 'Let's go, we need that promotion.' His teammates were scattered across continents, yet they moved with practiced synchronicity. As the whistle blew, Marcus didn't think about the AI or the engine; he thought about the pass his striker needed and the space to run into. This was where the game felt real—not in the graphics, but in the shared breath of eleven strangers becoming a single unit.
Reader's Guide
The 32 teams were divided into eight groups of four teams, with the top two teams in each group qualifying to the knockout stage. The only difference from the format used in the FIFA World Cup between 1998 and 2022 was that there was no third place playoff. The draw was held on December 5, 2024, at the headquarters of television broadcaster Telemundo in the Miami suburb of Doral, Florida. Teams from the same confederation could not be drawn into the same group except for UEFA teams, for which there was at least one and no more than two per group.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is Pro Clubs in FIFA?
This mode lets you create a single avatar to play alongside ten other humans in an online match. It shifts focus from managing a whole team to mastering individual skill within a squad.
How many teammates are required for a full game?
A complete match features up to eleven real players on each side competing against one another. If your club lacks members, computer-controlled bots fill the remaining spots automatically.
Can I design my own player character here?
Yes, you have full control over creating and upgrading a unique virtual athlete for your profile. This customization is central to building your reputation across different seasons.
How does teamwork factor into gameplay?
Success relies heavily on communication and coordination with your human clubmates during the match. Isolated play rarely succeeds because opponents will exploit gaps in your collective defense or attack.
What is the main goal of this mode?
The primary objective is to form a lasting club that competes in leagues and climbs seasonal leaderboards together. It serves as a social platform for friends to share progress and trophies over time.
