Captain Laserhawk: A Blood Dragon Remix

Captain Laserhawk: A Blood Dragon Remix is an adult animated sci-fi series created by Adi Shankar for Netflix. It draws inspiration from the 2013 video game *Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon* and mixes in characters and elements from various other Ubisoft franchises. The show was produced by Ubisoft Film & Television, Bobbypills, and Bootleg Universe, premiered on Netflix on October 19, 2023, and earned generally favorable reviews.

Set in an alternate 1992, the story takes place in a dystopian United States now called Eden, a technocracy run by the megacorporation of the same name. Eden has created anthropomorphic animals called Hybrids, used as slave labor. The main character, Dolph Laserhawk, is a supersoldier who defected from the company’s army and is now imprisoned in a black-site prison. He and other inmates are forced into a black ops team through lethal implants that detonate if they disobey orders. Their mission is to sabotage the plans of a revolutionary—who happens to be Laserhawk’s ex-boyfriend and betrayer, Alex Taylor.

The voice cast includes Nathaniel Curtis as Dolph Laserhawk, Caroline Ford as Warden Sarah Fisher (based on *Splinter Cell*), Balak as Bullfrog (inspired by *Assassin’s Creed*), Boris Hiestand as Alex Taylor (from *The Crew*), David Menkin as Rayman, Mark Ebulue as Marcus Holloway (from *Watch Dogs 2*), Nigel Barber as Sam Fisher, Adi Shankar as Red (inspired by *Rainbow Six Siege*), Courtney-Mae Briggs as Jade and Glenn Wrage as Pey’j (from *Beyond Good & Evil*), Daniel York Loh as Pagan Min (from *Far Cry 4*), and professional wrestlers Kenny Omega and Cody Rhodes as themselves.

The series was first announced in October 2019 under the title *Captain Laserhawk: A Blood Dragon Vibe*. In June 2021, during Netflix’s Geeked Week, Shankar revealed the current title. Paris-based studio Bobbypills handled animation, with Balak as creative director and Mehdi Leffad as director. Producers from Ubisoft Film & Television included Gérard Guillemot, Hélène Juguet, and Hugo Revon. Beyond *Far Cry*, the show incorporates characters from *Assassin’s Creed*, *Beyond Good and Evil*, *The Crew*, *Rainbow Six*, *Rayman*, *Splinter Cell*, and *Watch Dogs*.

All six episodes were released globally on Netflix in October 2023. On Rotten Tomatoes, it holds an 89% approval rating from 9 reviews, with an average score of 6.70/10.
