Willow (TV series)

Willow is an American fantasy adventure television series from Lucasfilm that acts as a sequel to the 1988 film of the same name. Warwick Davis returned to play Willow Ufgood, the Nelwyn sorcerer he originally portrayed. Val Kilmer could not reprise his role as Madmartigan, so his son Jack Kilmer voiced a cameo appearance of the character. The series was mostly filmed in Wales starting in April 2021 and debuted on Disney+ on November 30, 2022.

The show was officially canceled in March 2023 after a single season, though Jonathan Kasdan described it as being on hiatus. Kasdan said a second season had already been written and expressed hope it would still be made. Reporters linked the cancellation to media companies, including Disney+, cutting costs to boost profitability. The series was removed from Disney+ on May 26, 2023, during a broader content-removal purge under CEO Bob Iger.

Set more than twenty years after Queen Bavmorda’s defeat, the story follows six unlikely heroes on a dangerous journey beyond their home. They must confront their inner demons and unite to save their world from the Gales, servants of the Crone who are allied with the Wyrm.

The main cast includes Warwick Davis as Willow Ufgood, Ellie Bamber as Elora Danan (disguised as a kitchen maid named Dove), Ruby Cruz as Princess Kit Tanthalos, Erin Kellyman as Jade Claymore, Tony Revolori as Prince Graydon Hastur, Amar Chadha-Patel as Thraxus Boorman, and Dempsey Bryk as Prince Airk Tanthalos. Guest stars include Joanne Whalley as Queen Sorsha, Ralph Ineson as Commander Ballantine, and others such as Kevin Pollak as Rool, Adwoa Aboah as Scorpia, and Jane Carr as the voice of the Crone.
