Lore & Background
In the early days of Fabletown, Cinderella's character arc transformed her from a passive victim in her original tale into a skilled spy and assassin, not a political leader or social reformer. She operates as a field agent for the Fabletown government, undertaking covert missions to protect the community. Her story highlights the series' theme that happily ever afters require ongoing effort and adaptation, but through espionage and lethal action, not grassroots organizing.
Reader's Guide
The group aims to improve quality of life for displaced storybook characters through advocacy, counseling, and direct material aid. Cinderella serves as the primary leader and founder, supported by a rotating cadre of volunteers who share her vision of empowerment and self-reliance. They operate out of a discreet office located within Fabletown, offering confidential sessions and job placement assistance. Their methods involve navigating local bureaucracy to secure resources while strictly maintaining secrecy from the human population outside. In the broader conflict against external threats like the Adversary or internal strife, they stabilize the home front by ensuring vulnerable Fables do not fall into despair or crime due to neglect. They represent a significant shift toward social responsibility within the community, often acting as a counterbalance to political maneuvering. The group emphasizes healing past traumas from the Storybook Lands.
