Dione (mythology)

Multiple figures in Greek myth, including a goddess at Dodona.

Dione is a name borne by several figures in Greek mythology, most notably a goddess worshipped at Dodona. She is described as an Oceanid, daughter of Oceanus and Tethys, or as a Titaness, daughter of Gaia and Uranus. Dione is often said to be the mother of Aphrodite by Zeus, and the name is sometimes used as an epithet of Aphrodite herself.
