In Their Own Story

The floodlights at Deutsche Bank Park hummed as the second half wore on, the scoreline deadlocked. Marmoush received the ball near the halfway line, his eyes scanning for an opening. With a sudden burst of acceleration, he beat two defenders with a simple change of pace, the crowd roaring in unison. He cut inside onto his favored foot, drew the last defender out of position, and unleashed a curling effort that kissed the underside of the crossbar before trickling into the net. The stadium erupted, the red and black sea surging as the Egyptian forward celebrated with arms wide open.
