Rausch joined Eintracht Frankfurt as head coach in January 1979. Under his leadership, the club won the UEFA Cup in the 1979–80 season. The UEFA Cup semi-final second leg against Bayern Munich ended 5–1 after extra time, giving Eintracht a 5–1 aggregate victory.
