Sittler set an NHL record on February 7, 1976, scoring ten points (six goals and four assists) against the Boston Bruins. He remains the most recent NHL player to score six goals in one game. He was named captain of the Maple Leafs on September 10, 1975. His relationship with owner Harold Ballard deteriorated, leading to a trade to the Flyers on January 20, 1982. He was later traded to the Detroit Red Wings before the 1984–85 season.
