Somerset Patriots
The Somerset Patriots: Double-A affiliate of the New York Yankees, competing in the Eastern League.
Last updated
Their success continued after moving to the Eastern League in 2021, winning the 2022 Eastern League Championship.[1][2] The Somerset Patriots were among the original teams when the Atlantic League formed in 1998, and they played their first season entirely on the road because their stadium was still under construction.[3] Between 1998 and 2020, the Patriots amassed 1,580 regular-season victories and six league championships (2001, 2003, 2005, 2008, 2009, 2015), setting records that made them the Atlantic League's most accomplished franchise during that period.[4]
What the cited sources add
A 2023 Long Island Ducks press release notes that Somerset held the Atlantic League's all-time wins record with 1,580 wins from 1998-2019, and their 47 playoff wins are second in league history.[10] The 2020 Patch article detailing the SOMERSET Professional Baseball Series states that Brett Jodie managed the Patriots for that series, while pitching coach Jon Hunton managed the Blasters.[8] That article also reports that six players on the Patriots' roster had previous service in Somerset, including fan favorites Scott Kelly and Justin Pacchioli, who rank third and fourth in franchise history in stolen bases.[8]
