Casper Meets Wendy

Casper Meets Wendy is a 1998 American fantasy comedy movie featuring the Harvey Comics characters Casper the Friendly Ghost and Wendy the Good Little Witch. It serves as a standalone follow-up to *Casper: A Spirited Beginning* and is the second spin-off or prequel connected to the 1995 film *Casper*. The project was a co-production of Saban Entertainment. Released by 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment on September 22, 1998, it marked Hilary Duff's first major film role, coming out just six days before her 11th birthday. Co-star Cathy Moriarty, who played the main villain in the 1995 *Casper* film, appears here in her second Casper movie. Critical reception was mostly negative, though reviewers generally saw it as an improvement over its predecessor. Its television debut occurred on October 24, 1999, on Fox Family.

The story begins with the Ghostly Trio causing chaos at a baseball game, and their nephew Casper fails to calm the frightened crowd. After the park clears, the uncles plan a vacation. Meanwhile, the warlock Desmond Spellman learns from the Oracle in the Mirror that a good little witch named Wendy will one day surpass him. To stop this, he plans to use the "Mystic Abyss," a dimensional rift that destroys living beings. He creates two spies, Jules and Vincent, to bring Wendy to him from her home in the country, where she lives with her three mischievous aunts: Gert, Gabby, and Fanny.

Jules and Vincent arrive at Wendy's house to escort her to Desmond, but she escapes with her aunts. To keep Wendy safe, her aunts hide at the same resort hotel where Casper and his uncles are vacationing. Wendy meets a boy named Josh Jackman, but their friendship fades after he pushes a girl away from an arcade game and ignores Wendy. Casper and Wendy meet in a barn and become friends, but worry their guardians won't get along because ghosts and witches are natural enemies. They devise a plan to make the guardians meet at a party. Casper gets the Ghostly Trio to possess three men who resemble them, while Wendy convinces her aunts to attend the party to meet men. The plan works, and the Trio flirts with the witches, who pose as regular women.

The plan falls apart when the possession ends, revealing the Trio's true forms to Wendy's aunts, who then reveal themselves and threaten the ghosts with magic.
