Willie the Wonder: four-time All-Star left fielder and 1968 champion.
Willie Horton (born William Wattison Horton, October 18, 1942), nicknamed "Willie the Wonder", is an American former left fielder and designated hitter who played in the major leagues from 1963 to 1980, mostly for the Detroit Tigers. Across 18 seasons with six American League clubs he made four All-Star teams and won the 1968 World Series with Detroit. He reached 20 home runs seven times and finished with 325, then sixth among right-handed American League hitters. His best year was 1968, when he was second in the league with 36 home runs, a .543 slugging average and 278 total bases; late in his career he was twice named the AL's top designated hitter.
