Anthony Mantha, a Canadian professional ice hockey winger, currently plays for the New Jersey Devils in the National Hockey League (NHL). The Detroit Red Wings selected him 20th overall in the 2013 NHL entry draft.
Mantha started his junior career after being chosen 76th overall by the Val-d'Or Foreurs in the 2010 QMJHL entry draft. He first played in the QMJHL during the 2010–11 season, appearing in just two games for Val-d'Or while spending most of that year with the College Charles-Lemoyne Riverains in Quebec's midget AAA league. In his first full QMJHL season (2011–12), he put up 22 goals and 29 assists over 63 games. The following season, he led the QMJHL with 50 goals and added 39 assists in 67 games, earning a spot in the 2013 CHL Top Prospects Game and a place on the QMJHL Second All-Star Team. During the 2013–14 season, he topped the league in scoring with 57 goals and 63 assists in 57 games, winning the Jean Béliveau Trophy as the QMJHL's top scorer, the Michel Brière Memorial Trophy as league MVP, and the CHL Player of the Year award. In the playoffs, he led Val-d'Or with 24 goals and 14 assists in 24 games, scoring the game-winning goal with 52 seconds left in Game 7 of the QMJHL Finals to capture the President's Cup.
Professionally, Mantha signed a three-year entry-level contract with the Red Wings on October 12, 2013. He began the 2014–15 season on injured reserve after fracturing his right tibia on September 15, 2014, during a prospect tournament game, sidelining him for six to eight weeks. He made his AHL debut for the Grand Rapids Griffins on November 14, 2014, and scored his first professional goal in his second AHL game. On February 17, 2016, he recorded his first career hat-trick in the AHL. Recalled by the Red Wings on March 14, 2016, he made his NHL debut the next day against the Philadelphia Flyers and scored his first NHL goal on March 24 against the Montreal Canadiens. After 10 NHL games (two goals, one assist), he was returned to the Griffins. Recalled again on November 11, 2016, he had been tied for the AHL lead in goals with eight in 10 games. On October 5, 2017, Mantha scored the first goal at Little Caesars Arena, assisted by Henrik Zetterberg. He recorded his first NHL hat-trick on March 31, 2019, against the Boston Bruins.
