David Booth (ice hockey)
American forward who played for Florida Panthers and Vancouver Canucks.
David Jonathan Booth is an American professional ice hockey forward. He played college hockey for the Michigan State Spartans before being selected 53rd overall by the Florida Panthers in the 2004 NHL entry draft. Booth is known as an offensive forward and a fast skater who reached the 30-goal plateau once in his NHL career.

Booth played minor hockey with the Fraser Falcons and Detroit Honeybaked before moving to the Junior A level with the Detroit Compuware Ambassadors of the NAHL. He recorded 30 points in 42 games in 2000–01, earning NAHL All-Rookie Team and Rookie of the Year honors. He then joined the United States National Team Development Program and committed to Michigan State University. During his freshman year with the Spartans, he recorded 36 points in 39 games and earned CCHA All-Rookie Team honors. He was eligible for the 2003 NHL entry draft but NCAA rules prevented him from opting in without forfeiting college eligibility. After being drafted by the Panthers in 2004, he returned to Michigan State for two more seasons, finishing his college career with 105 points in 134 games. He helped the Spartans win the Mason Cup as CCHA champions in 2006.

Booth signed with the Panthers in July 2006 and was assigned to the AHL's Rochester Americans. He made his NHL debut on November 20, 2006, against the Boston Bruins, and scored his first NHL goal on January 4, 2007, against Jamie McLennan. In the 2008–09 season, he recorded his first career natural hat trick against the Anaheim Ducks on November 9, 2008, and later added another hat trick against the St. Louis Blues on March 7, 2009, becoming the fourth player in Panthers history to register two hat tricks in one season. He was voted the Panthers' most valuable player by the team's fans that season. The following season, he suffered two concussions. Midway through his sixth year in the league, he was traded to the Vancouver Canucks in a four-player deal. Booth also represented the United States internationally, winning gold medals at the 2002 IIHF World U18 and 2004 IIHF World U20 Championships, and competing in the 2008 IIHF World Championship.
