Lore & Background
The Swordsmith Village is a secret location where Nichirin Blades are forged for the Demon Slayer Corps. Its existence is hidden from the public and demons through concealment barriers. The village is home to swordsmiths like Hotaru Haganezuka, who refuses to forge a new sword for Tanjiro Kamado, forcing Tanjiro to travel there to discuss the matter in person. The village chief is Tecchin Tecchikawahara, who reassures Tanjiro he will bring Hotaru back to build his sword. The village also houses a 'secret weapon' that can make a Demon Slayer stronger, hinted at by Love Hashira Mitsuri Kanroji. During the Swordsmith Village Arc, Upper Rank Four and Five—Hantengu and Gyokko—are sent by Muzan Kibutsuji on a joint mission to cripple the Demon Slayer Corps, leading to an invasion of the village.
