Background

The Silverbacks' history is marked by specific moments and numbers. In their inaugural 1995–96 season, Gino DiFlorio set a team record by scoring 10 points in his debut against the rival Cleveland Crunch. The team played at Cincinnati Gardens for two seasons, then moved downtown to The Crown alongside the Cincinnati Cyclones. Former President Rich Neumann said a contributing factor to the club's demise was a lack of weekend home dates: of the 20 home games in an average season, the Silverbacks needed at least 15 on a Friday or Saturday night. In their final season, only 13 games were on those nights. Roughly 75 percent of ticket sales came from groups, with less than 10 percent—believed to be around 100—season ticket holders. The team was previously known as the Dayton Dynamo, from 1987/88–1994/95.
