Background
Kaneko said he wanted to show how wielding that power corrupts, and that the fear of death could be 'more nightmarish than Kaiju'. He cut many of the inner monologues from the manga so viewers could form their own ideas about what the characters were thinking. The film adds Light's girlfriend Shiori Akino, created to show Light's dark side; Light arranges both her death and Naomi Misora's.
