Background
Like L, he shows himself on computer screens only as an Old English letter, in his case 'W', and he is a father figure to the detective. Publicly he is Quillsh Wammy, a well-known inventor who founded Wammy's House, an orphanage for gifted children in Winchester, England. He is trained in espionage and is an expert marksman: he shoots the gun out of Kyosuke Higuchi's hand to stop him from killing himself.
