History
The Zenith Passage formed in 2012 when friends Justin McKinney and Greg Hampton began working together. A single-track demo appeared in February of that year, followed by the debut EP Cosmic Dissonance on January 29, 2013. By June 24, 2013, the band had inked a multi-album contract with Unique Leader Records. Guitarist Rob Maramonte, previously of Fallujah and All Shall Perish, joined the lineup later in 2013. Their debut EP moved 1,850 copies during its first week on sale. The group’s first full-length album, Solipsist, arrived on April 16, 2016, via Unique Leader Records. It included guest vocals from Fallujah’s Alex Hofmann and a guitar solo from Wes Hauch, formerly of The Faceless. The band also created their first music video for the track “Deus Deceptor.” Drummer Matthew Paulazzo departed in 2018 to attend film school. On August 9, 2021, the band dropped a music video for the new single “Algorithmic Salvation.” That same day, they announced Paulazzo’s return, along with the addition of vocalist Derek Rydquist and bassist Brandon Giffin, both ex-members of The Faceless. On December 7, 2022, the band revealed a new deal with Metal Blade Records and confirmed they were recording two albums. It also came to light that Paulazzo had left the group again. On May 15, 2023, the band announced their next LP, Datalysium, set for release on July 21, 2023. The news came with the single “Lexicontagion.” A second single, “Divinertia II,” and its accompanying music video followed on June 14, 2023.
