Career

Deadsquad was formed in early 2006 when guitarists Stevie Item and Ricky Siahaan sought a project band to play metal. Bassist Bonny Sidharta of Tengkorak and drummer Andyan Gorust, formerly of Siksakubur, were invited to complete the lineup. After Ricky Siahaan resigned in June 2006, Prisa Adinda of Zala replaced him, and vocalist Babal was recruited shortly thereafter. The band adopted the name Deadsquad around this time. Prisa Adinda left in November 2007, and Coki Bollemeyer of Netral joined as her successor in October 2008. That same month, singer Daniel Mardhany of Abolish Conception replaced Babal. The debut album Horror Vision was released on 9 March 2009 by Rottrevore Records, coinciding with a Lamb of God concert in Jakarta; it was later re-released by Malaysian label Dark Colloseum. The album contains eight tracks, with musical influences from Dying Fetus, Necrophagist, and Sepultura, and guitar work influenced by Steve Vai. The first track, Pasukan Mati, addresses the brutality of right-wing fascist mobs, while Manufaktur Replika Baptis deals with coercion in choosing religion in Indonesia. A cover of Sepultura's Arise appears as a tribute. The second album Profanatik was released in November 2013 through Armstretch Records. Bassist Bonny Sidharta left in March 2014, with no official replacement named; the band hired Arslan Musyfia of Carnivored for bass duties and used session players such as Anak Agung Gde and Welby Cahyadi until Sidharta returned.
