Decisive Strike

Turn a certain death into a desperate gamble when the Killer thinks they have won.

Decisive Strike is a Survivor perk that offers a final chance to escape from a Killer's grasp when all hope seems lost. It activates only when a Survivor has been hooked and subsequently rescued, or when they are downed and about to be placed on the hook for the first time in a trial. Instead of being helpless while carried, the Survivor gains a unique opportunity to turn the tables if they fail their initial struggle.

Lore & Background

The mechanics of this ability suggest that The Entity itself may be testing the limits of its prey. By allowing a downed or hooked Survivor to attempt one last strike, it creates a narrative where death is not inevitable until the final second has passed. It mirrors the desperate struggles seen in the darkest corners of the map, where a victim might lash out with a hidden weapon or use their environment to break free, turning the hunter into the hunted for a brief, chaotic moment.

Reader's Guide

Decisive Strike grants the Survivor an opportunity to stun the Killer if they are downed while being carried to a hook or if they fail their initial struggle after being hooked. Upon triggering, the Survivor must press the action button to perform a stealthy attack that stuns the Killer for 5 seconds and heals one health state. The perk activates only when the Survivor is in the dying state while being carried by the Killer OR immediately after failing to escape a hook attempt. It can trigger once per trial, regardless of how many times the condition is met. Killers should be wary of carrying Survivors who may have this perk; if they feel a struggle that feels different or see the visual cue of the perk triggering, they must immediately release their grip and attack to prevent the stun. Alternatively, rushing to finish off a downed Survivor before they can react is often safer than risking the carry. This perk pairs exceptionally well with perks that increase movement speed or provide healing opportunities, such as 'Boon: Shadow Step' or 'Adrenaline'. It also works well with items like the Toolbox to quickly repair a generator after escaping.
